A Little History About Our School

      
       Montessori Academy of Spartanburg began in 1980 as a single classroom housed in the Spartanburg YMCA.  After operating successfully in the YMCA for several years, the school moved to its current location on Spring Street.  In 2004 the school expanded, adding a classroom and multipurpose room.  In 2006 the school acquired a historic home at 352 Spring Street, and renovated it for the Elementary House.


        Montessori Academy maintains and fosters an authentic Montessori education for children from 18months-9th grade.  Montessori Academy holds credentials with Montessori Educational Programs International, Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education, and the American Montessori Society.

     Our main building houses our Preprimay and  Primary classrooms. It also features two playgrounds, our gardens, greenhouse, and main offices.
